As It Is

Co-Director (Artistic Director & Producer)

Watercolor, storybook-like narrative adventure game about social anxiety, vulnerability, and helping others. With As It Is, we want to celebrate the various cultures and identities we see in our world, to love those with differing perspectives, and especially to grow and accept ourselves.

Showcased at IndieCade 2018. PlayNYC 2018 Selection, PixelPop Festival 2018 Selection, MAGFest 2019 Selection, GameDaily Connect 2019 Selection, USC Games Expo 2019 Selection, and MAGWest 2019 Selection. USC Bridge Incubator 2019 Selection. Indie Prize 2019 Finalist.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Co-led international team of 5 time zones by facilitating meetings, authoring inspiration guides, and assigning weekly sprint tasks
  • Painted 68 character sprites, 3 backdrop borders, and 42 other sprites
  • Designed all UI: dialogue box, interactable indicators, and titlescreen look
  • Illustrated game logo, studio logo, initial character concept art, and mechanic design diagrams
  • Provided feedback for artists to emphasize character expression and personality
  • Cut multiple trailers in Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Worked with design and narrative teams to flesh out mechanics and story
  • Designed physical marketing material for stickers, business cards, and festival display
  • Created digital marketing content for Egghouse Twitter, blog, and mailing list
  • Built slidedecks and gave pitches
  • Improved user understanding and ease of use by 80% after collaborating with other testers to conduct RITE usability tests

2D narrative combat platformer about identity & belonging where you play as an explorer whose spaceship has crashed in the middle of an alien ritual.

Showcased at USC Games Underground Show 2017.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborated with one other developer to design world, narrative, and game mechanics
  • Formulated 15 character designs, 66 pixel sprites (character & vfx), 3 fully painted background environments, and 4 storyboard frames
  • Wrote 100+ lines of dialogue

Navigation Robot

Software Engineer, Program Manager, Designer, 3D Modeler

Assistive navigation robot using Intel Joule, LIDAR, and voice recognition created while interning with Microsoft.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Programmed back-end navigation portion of assistive navigation robot by refining existing project to implement node-based indoor path navigation
  • Refined and drew navigation UX diagram for better front-end accessibility by allowing input via microphone/display and providing output via speakers/display
  • Designed layout of robot add-on parts, routinely collected feedback and iterated on the design through diagrams for stability
  • Became familiarized with 3D Builder and implemented robot designs as 3D models
  • Mapped, tested, and debugged across 26-node floorplan in XML file to allow future users to customize maps
  • Collaborated with other engineers and program managers to author specifications to clearly define objectives and constraints of project
  • Defined and executed test cases with other developers
  • Provided feedback and reported bugs to the 3D Builder team on side-loaded version to help improve software

2D narrative-based puzzle game about hiking in the Ozarks with a strained father-daughter relationship.

  • Implemented dynamic journal system with menu/settings that pauses dialogue and movement & diary entries that unlock and vary depending on player choice in-game
